Unlocking Luminousness: Strengthen Your Skin with Bright Choices and Preventing Pitfalls

By: Salma Belgou

I wasn’t always the best at taking care of my skin, on top of that, I was really stressed, and it showed through my skin. As I got into the habit of daily skincare, my skin has improved drastically. In the substantial domain of beauty, our skin is a canvas that reveals not only our visual likings, but the concern we give in strengthening our skin’s health and vibrancy. That’s why I’ll be sharing some good and bad skincare habits I’ve learned through my skincare journey.

Good skincare habits will not only assist you in retaining healthy skin, but also keep you looking glowy. Having a skincare routine isn’t the only thing that’s done to maintain healthy looking skin – good habits are another important factor. Of course, down the road, you will discover bad habits that you need to end; and that’s okay because it’s all part of the journey.

The first good habit to remember is washing your hands and face. Some will say this is obvious, but individuals will sometimes forget before doing their skincare. Doing so will help get rid of any dirt, dead skin, bacteria, germs, viruses, and more. They are everywhere, so it’s vital to wash both your hands and face before putting anything on to avoid any skin problems.

The second good habit is wearing sunscreen EVERY single day. Even when you’re just staying at home, even during the winter, and even on not so sunny days. The damaging UV is always there. You might be asking yourself, “wait even at home?” Yes, because the natural light arises through the windows.

The third good habit is changing your bed sheets, pillowcases, and towels regularly. Our skin directly touches these and if they aren’t clean, it can cause breakouts. There are dead skin cells, dust mites, and more. Right, isn’t that crazy. It would be like wasting your time on skincare because you’re not getting the full benefit of it. Our bed sheets and pillows should be washed at least once a week, as for our towels three days a week – bacteria can grow on towels because they are in a damp area, that’s why they should be washed more.

The fourth good habit is staying consistent. It takes time to achieve the skin you’re aiming for. Just like anything else, it needs patience and consistency. Always do your skincare every morning and night – using effective skincare products that are meant for your skin. Now, to see visible outcomes, it could take a few weeks to a month. I know sometimes days can be hard and you’re tired, sleepy or might not have enough time in the morning, but you should still do your skincare. If you maintain that consistency, you’ll see results, your skin will be healthy and brighter.

Now moving onto bad habits, these can be really hard to stop doing but they need to be stopped. This will ensure that your skin stays healthy. The first bad skincare habit is touching your face. This is a hard one even for me, sometimes it happens without even noticing. As I stated earlier, our hands have so many bacteria and germs, so when that gets on our face it can cause breakouts – affecting our health. With that being said, don’t be tempted to pop or pick your pimples. It can cause scarring, which can take so long to clear. Just let them be and they’ll go away on their own.

The second bad habit is trying every new skin care trend online. It can be irresistible, but not every product will work for your skin. It’s vital to remember that. Even though it may seem like a good product for someone else, it might not fully benefit your skin. With that, it’s necessary to check the ingredients, what’s being used that’s negatively affecting your skin. This will help you when choosing which products to buy, so you can avoid bad products.

The third bad habit is having a complex skin care routine. I see lots of individuals with a seven to ten step skincare routine, when it’s not needed. It makes it a lot more complicated and expensive. And, we all know how expensive skincare has gotten. It just isn’t needed. Skincare routines should be at four to five products. For a morning routine: toner, essence or serum, moisturizer and sunscreen. For a nighttime routine: oil cleanser, water base cleanser, toner, essence or serum and moisturizer. That’s all that’s needed.

The fourth and last bad habit is using hot water when taking a shower or washing your face. Of course, everyone loves using hot water, it’s very relaxing and makes you feel cozy. But, it isn’t the best thing to do. It can cause your skin to become more sensitive and red. It’s best to use cool to lukewarm temperature water.

These are the eight good and bad skin care habits to remember. This will be beneficial and assist you in getting that glowy and healthy-looking skin. Who wouldn’t want that? Of course, some of these habits may be hard to remember but again, it’s important to stay consistent – just like when you do your skincare routine. Consistency is key. If you’re interested in taking your skincare routine to the next level, stay tuned. I’ll be announcing a group of skincare gems from South Korea that are taking the focus throughout the globe, this blog is titled “The Elevated Recognition of Korean Skincare Unveiled – Uncover Essential Products.”
